Pérez re-elected president of Spanish producers’ federation FAPAE

On December 15, Pedro Pérez was re-elected president of the main representative body for audiovisual producers, FAPAE, the federation that brings together Spain’s main film and television producers’ associations. This marks the start of a fourth mandate for Pérez, who has occupied this post continuously since 2003.

Before the board of directors, the president set out the main outline of his work over the next four years. This includes facilitating financial liquidity for production companies seeking alternatives to the current financing and access to credit and guarantees; combating piracy with the development of the current legislation and support for the creation of a Spanish online platform that enables access to legal content; fostering coordination between the Institutions specialised in the audiovisual sector; and supporting internationalisation.

Over the course of a very turbulent decade for Spanish production – during which we have seen an explosion in piracy, the economic crisis, the new Film Law, conflict with private television companies, the blossoming of digital and new technologies, and the reduction in funding sources for film has become an everyday occurrence – ,Pérez has been one of the strongest champions of Spanish cinema in all circumstances, without avoiding any debate.
