Liberalisation of setting up cinemas is scrapped

The government’s simplifications decree does not contain the provision on opening new cinemas of under 3,000 seats (see the news).

The Minister for Cultural Goods, Lorenzo Ornaghi (pictured), asked for the provision to be scrapped after several and different comments were raised by various parties. "The period of examination – according to a statement from the minister – will allow for the feedback of all interested parties to be heard and to promote the shared and harmonious development of the film sector".
