by

With over 1.3 million viewers compared to last year’s 40,000, the second edition of online festival MyFrenchFilmFestival (read more), organised from January 12 to February 1 by Unifrance, has set the view-o-meter afire. This year, visitors were from 174 different countries and paying views went up by 41 percent with 24,000 films bought.

The top six paying territories were the United States (6,300 views), Spain (3,520), Korea (3,100), Japan (3,000), United Kingdom and France (1,950), but the festival’s boom comes mostly from a sharp rise in the number of free views from China with 1,1 million free views via platform Youku, and from South America via Terra with 100, 000 views. Countries with free access to the festival were Mexico (16,000), Brasil (12,650), Russia (12,400), Colombia (9,700), and Italy (7,300).
