Three weeks of Italian cinema for London
by Camillo De Marco
07/03/2012 - Three weeks filled with the best of Italian cinema. This is the opportunity offered to English audiences with the second edition of the London Italian Film Festival Cinema - Made in Italy from March 9-30 at the Ciné Lumière in Queensberry Place, organised by London’s Italian Cultural Institute and Cinecittà Luce.
Ivan Cotroneo’s Kryptonite! [trailer, film focus], Roan Johnson’s The First on the List [trailer], Francesco Bruni’s Scialla! [trailer], Giuseppe Gagliardi’s Tatanka [trailer] are some of the 13 recent Italian titles selected by the film critic of "Corriere della Sera" Paolo Mereghetti and by Adrian Wootton, chief executive of Film London, screened from March 9-15. Also on offer is the docufiction Summer of Giacomo [trailer], first work by Alessandro Comodin, and a Swiss production.
For the rest of the month the event moves to the Italian Cultural Institute with a selection of TV films with a ‘sporty’ theme, in honour of the London Olympics and a tribute to the master of Italian cinema Vittorio De Seta, who passed away last year.
