HAVC splits €3.9m between eight feature-film projects

HAVC splits €3.9m between eight feature-film projects12/03/2012 - The Croatian Audiovisual Centre (HAVC) has announced the results of its competition for funding of film productions. A total of €5,165,005 will be granted to 62 projects. Of this sum, €3,946,586 will go to eight feature films, including one first film by its director and one 3D animation.

Commercially, this could prove to be one of strongest line-ups in Croatian cinema in years. The Mysterious Boy is a sequel to Koko and the Ghosts, the local blockbuster children’s film that sold almost 80,000 tickets in 2011 and 2012. Cowboys is based on the hit theatre show by Saša Anoičić, while The Viper’s Glen Miracle is an adaptation of the bestseller by Ante Tomić. Cricket And Antoinette will be an animated family film in 3D.

As for other categories, nine feature documentaries will split $283,390. Among shorts, twelve animation films will get a total of $386,002; 20 experimental ones will share €239,693; six fiction shorts will receive a total of €195,997; and €116,365 will be split among seven documentaries.
