28/03/2012 - A jury presided over by Belgian director and producer Jean-Pierre Dardenne (double Palme d’Or in Cannes with his brother Luc in 1999 and 2005, Best Screenplay in 2008, and winner of the Grand Prix last year with The Kid with a Bike [trailer, film focus]) will this year choose the best among the film school projects in the Cinéfondation Selection and the short films competing at the 65th Cannes Film Festival from May 16 to 27.
The jury will also include Canadian actress Arsinée Khanjian, Brasilian director Karim Aïnouz, French writer and filmmaker Emmanuel Carrère, and Chinese director and director of photography Yu Lik-Wai.
Previous editions of Cannes’ short film competition have revealed the talent of directors like Jane Campion, Lynne Ramsay, Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Xavier Giannoli, and Catalin Mitulescu, while the Cinéfondation Selection has previously screened film school projects by Kornél Mundruczo, Corneliu Porumboiu, and Jessica Hausner.
