Two Germans and three Frenchmen

13/04/2012 - Movienet yesterday released the dramatic comedy Einer wie Bruno [trailer] in German cinemas. In this first feature film by Anja Jacobs, Christian Ulmen plays Bruno, a father with the mental age of a child. His 13-year-old daughter Radost finds the situation increasingly difficult to deal with, especially when she starts to overtake him in maturity and becomes interested in boys. The rivalry between Bruno and his daughter’s boyfriend will forever change the father-daughter relationship. This educational film was was produced by Funkfilme and Oberon.

Film Kino Text has released esthetically modern documentary Work Hard - Play Hard [trailer], a co-production between Cologne-based companies HUPE and Brauer Roelly Winker, in which Carmen Losmann explores how modern productivity and overacheivement has led to the removal of boundaries in the workplace.

While Polyband is placing its bets on the Norwegian children’s film Twigson [trailer] by Martin Lund, the German public will also be able to pick from no less than three French films, starting with a feature that will throw viewers back into childhood, War of Buttons II [trailer] by Christophe Barratier, with Laetitia Casta, Guillaume Canet, and Kad Merad (Welcome to the Sticks [trailer]). This remake of the classic film by Yves Robert is distributed by Delphi.

Another famous French face is also in the line-up this week, as Concorde has released Delicacy [trailer] by David and Stéphane Foenkinos, with Audrey Tautou. The French trio is completed by a couple of men fleeing prostitution and crime in Gaël Morel’s Our Paradise [trailer] (distr. Salzgeber).
