Bertrand Bonello and João Pedro Rodrigues to head juries
by Fabien Lemercier
26/04/2012 - Like last year, the Grand Prize at the 51st Critics’ Week from May 17 to 25 at the 65th Cannes Film Festival will be handed out by a jury, and not by the press as was previously the case.
The jury will be made up of four international journalists and headed by French filmmaker Bertrand Bonello (photo). Winner of the Grand Prize at the Critics’ Week in 2011 with the The Pornographer, the latter is a well-seasoned Cannes attendee, running in its official competition with Tiresia in 2003 and House of Tolerance [trailer] in 2011, and presenting On War at the Directors’ Fortnight in 2008.
For the short film competition, the jury will be headed by Portuguese filmmaker João Pedro Rodrigues whose two last films also went to Cannes: Two Drifters [trailer] at the Directors’ Fortnight in 2005 and To Die Like a Man [trailer] at the Certain Regard in 2009.
