Three men in their forties welcome in the Big Bad Wolf

by Fabien Lemercier

Three men in their forties welcome in the Big Bad Wolf26/06/2012 - Since June 11, the duo Nicolas(Charlet) and Bruno (Lavaine) have been shooting their second feature just outside Paris: Le Grand Méchant Loup (lit. “The Big Bad Wolf”). The two directors of Me Two [trailer] (2008) this time have brought together a stellar cast including Belgian actor Benoit Poelvoorde (currently in Le grand soir [trailer]), Kad Merad (Welcome to the Sticks [trailer], and in cinemas at the end of August in Superstar), Fred Testot (HOUBA! On the Trail of the Marsupilami [trailer]), Valérie Donzelli (Declaration of War [trailer]), Zabou Breitman (The Minister [trailer, film focus]), Charlotte Le Bon, Cristiana Reali, Lea Drucker, and Linh Dan Pham.

Written by the two directors, the screenplay tells the story of three brothers who used to be happy. At least, they thought they were. One day, their mother has an accident, and Henri, Philippe, and Louis start to question the meaning of their lives. These Versailles quadragenarians, to whom nothing ever happens, are overcome by a great wave of doubt, which is enough to make them suddenly open up the door to what is new and forbidden, to adventure... to the Big Bad Wolf! But will the wolf, however sexy he may be, really manage to blow their houses down? Is the eldest son’s private hotel made in cut stone really that solid? What if, in the end, adult life wasn’t exactly like a fairy tale?

Produced by Eric and Nicolas Altmayer for Mandarin Cinéma, Le Grand Méchant Loup is co-produced by TF1 Films Production, M6 Films, Mars Films, and the Belgian Scope Pictures. The film’s ten weeks of shooting will end mid-August. Mars Distribution will release the film in France on February 27, 2013, and Other Angle Pictures will handle its international sales.
