17/07/2012 - Among the hosts at the
Miniero - helmer of the hit Welcome to the South [trailer] (the third most successful Italian box office hit) and its sequel Welcome to the North [trailer] - will direct a film on lost Neapolitans: "It will be a family comedy, the tale of two brothers who have forgotten their Neopolitan roots and find themselves confronted with their origins," said the Neaopolitan director and scriptwriter. "Filming will kick off in February 2013 and release will be sometime in the autumn. The distributor Produce Cattleya still has to decide,'' he explained.
Instead it will be an ensemble film co-written by Paolo Genovese (another box office hit with The Immature [trailer]), the upcoming film by Leonardo Pieraccioni (on the big screen last year with Finalmente la felicità [trailer]), due for release next year. "We have put aside sentimental comedy and decided to do a very entertaining ensemble film," said the Tuscan actor-director. "The film generally begins where all my stories end. What happened to the lovebirds that we left with a happy ending? We will follow the adventure of a couple after 12 years of marriage. The first scene will be two red-haired twins sitting on a sofa.,” he added. Shooting is expected to begin in June 2013.
The 2012 edition of the Giffoni Film Festival, opened on Saturday 14 by American actress Jessica Alba, will showcase over 170 films in competition until July 24. Among the other international hosts of the Campanian festival include Nicolas Cage and Jean Reno. For the full programme, read here.
