National Film Fund supports A Land of Storms

by Fabien Lemercier

National Film Fund supports A Land of Storms20/07/2012 - Little by little, the National Film Fund is pulling Hungarian cinematic production out of the abyss into which it fell before 2012. After giving its support this January (read more) to János Szász, Károly Ujj Mészáros, and Gyula Nemes, then towards the end of June (read more) to Szablocs Hajdu, Márk Bodzsár, and Ágnes Sós, the public body has now selected A Land of Storms by Ádám Császi for its aid.

(The article continues below - Commercial information)

After his short films 7 Days and Weak Days, that respectively won the Jury Award in 2004 and Best Film in 2008 at Hungarian Film Week, Ádám Császi is now to start shooting his feature debut this September. The plot is to feature a love triangle, forbidden feelings, and youth in search of themselves in a region of traditions and prejudices.

Produced by Viktória Petrányi for Proton Cinema (the production company that handles all of Kornél Mundruczó’s films), A Land of Storms will be made on a budget of €420,000, notably from a co-production with the Germans from Unafilm and aid from the National Film Fund worth €210,000.
