20/07/2012 - The British Film Commission (BFC) has appointed Kattie Kotok as the agency’s new Executive Vice President of US Production, based in Los Angeles. Kotok joins from National Geographic Films (NGF), where she was their Vice President of Acquisitions and Production. At NGF, Kotok was instrumental in buying, editing and distributing high profile films including Oscar-winning March of the Penguins. Before NGF, Kotok worked in film development at Fox Searchlight Pictures and in marketing at Paramount Pictures.
Adrian Wootton, Chief Executive of BFC and Film London, said, “Heading up the BFC’s operations in LA, Kattie will be central to building on the excellent levels of international productions coming into the UK and ensuring the US film industry continues to utilise the UK’s world-class production infrastructure and talent base. Kattie’s role is vital, and I look forward to her working with me and the BFC team to sustain and develop inward investment.”
Kotok said, “I have always admired and appreciated the talent, projects and practices in the UK and now feel honoured to serve as a key liaison between the US and UK film industries. In a media landscape that continues to look to and grow in the international scene, this role feels very timely and essential. I look forward to building and expanding relationships across all levels and disciplines of the entertainment business, particularly as the BFC aims to forge new paths in television and animation.”
