Barbara has good company in Palic

20/07/2012 - The Official Selection of the 17th Palic European Film Festival (July 14-20) is featuring one of the most acclaimed German titles of the year: Christian Petzold's Barbara [trailer, film focus], a Schramm Film Koerner & Weber production, which made a splash at the last Berlinale, leaving with two trophies, and went on to win the Silver Lola-German Film Award of the best film of the year, among other prizes.
The competition of the Serbian festival includes another Berlin title, the French/German/Hungarian co-production Just The Wind [trailer, film focus] by Bence Fliegauf, as well as two films in competition at the last Cannes Film Festival, Sergei Loznitsa's In the Fog [trailer] (co-produced in Germany by Ma.Ja.De Filmproduktions-GmbH) and Austrian director Ulrich Seidl's Paradise: Love [trailer] (co-produced by Tatfilm), and the Finnish phenomenon Iron Sky [trailer, film focus] by Timo Vuorensola (co-produced by the German outfit 27 Films Production).
The 'Parallels and Encounters' sidebar presents Czech director Tomás Lunák's Alois nebel [trailer] (co-produced by Palas Film) and Macedonia's Teona Strugar Mitevska's The Woman Who Brushed Off Her Tearsco-produced by Ostlicht).
In 'Eco Documentaries', the public can discover Volker Sattel's Under Control (credo:film) and the Swiss/German title Raising Resistance by Bettina Borgfeld and David Bernet. Finally, the 'Hommage Programme' includes Lars von Trier's big European co-production, Europa.
