Four German successes at Giffoni
by German Films
25/07/2012 - The 42nd Giffoni Film Festival (July 14-24) has acknowledged the quality of Germany's productions for children by handing four awards to four titles, including Mike Marzuk's adaptation of Enid Blyton's most famous book series, Famous Five. The SamFilm GmbH production by the director of Rock it!, seen by over a million Germans since its January release by Constantin Film Verleih (currently 11th at the national box-office), won the Best Film Gryphon Award in the Elements +6 section.
Cyrill Boss and Phillipp Stennert's Victor and the Secret of Crocodile Mansion [trailer], a Rat Pack production that was released in March, also through Constantin, won the Best Film Gryphon Award in the Elements +10 section.
The co-production The Foster Boy [trailer] by Markus Imboden, already awarded twice at this year's Swiss Film Prizes (where it was running in six categories including Best Film), received the La Bottega Digitale Award in the Generator +13 section, while Sarah Winkenstette's Kidnapped won the Best Short Film Gryphon Award in the Elements +10 section.
