German Films assists theatrical releases of local titles abroad

02/08/2012 - In its fourth sitting for 2012, the Distribution Support Awards Committee decided to fund eight foreign theatrical campaigns for German films, for a total of €55,000.
The committee decided to support the following films:
Barbara [trailer, film focus] (photo) in Canada (Distributor: Films We Like)
The Silence> in Spain (Karma Films)
Bliss [trailer] in Taiwan (Swallow Wings)
Pina [trailer] in Korea (Baekdu-Deagan Films Co.)
Room 205 [trailer] in Turkey (Calinos Filmcilik)
This Ain't California in Austria/South Tyrol (Thimfilm GmbH)
If Not Us, Who? in Romania (SC Clorofilm)
Wunderkinder in Israel (Lev Cinemas)
Since 2005, the Distribution Support funding programme has supported the theatrical release of German films abroad by financing additional measures over and above the release campaign already planned by the foreign distributors. The subsidies, up to €50,000, are granted in the form of a conditionally repayable loan. Funding of up to €10,000 can also be allocated as a grant.
