MK2 hedges its bets on Something in the Air and Kinshasa Kids

24/08/2012 - Just a few days before the Venice Film Festival(69th edition from August 29 to September 8) - Toronto Film Festival (from September 6 to 16) double act kicks off, MK2’s international sales team is readying itself. On the Lido, the outfit will have a great asset with French director Olivier Assayas’ Something In The Air [trailer, film focus] (photo - read more) to be screened in the official competition on Monday September 3. The film will then travel to the Masters section at the Toronto Film Festival before setting off to the 50th New York Film Festival from September 28 to October 14. MK2 is to release the film in France on November 14.
A Venice-Toronto trip is also on the cards for another title in its line-up, Marc-Henri Wajnberg’s Belgo-French production Kinshasa Kids [trailer, film focus] (read more), a film to make its world premiere at the Venice Days, then to be screened in Toronto as part of the Contemporary World Cinema programme.
In Toronto, the MK2 team led by Dorothée Pfistner is also to continue with sales for its Cannes titles. Xavier Dolan’s Laurence Anyways [trailer] and Walter Salles’s On the Road [trailer] are to be screened as part of the Canadian festival’s Special Presentations, while Abbas Kiarostami’s Like Someone in Love [trailer] is to be screened in the Masters programme and Egyptian director Yousry Nasrallah’s After the Battle will be presented in the Contemporary World Cinema programme.
MK2’s line-up also features Bruno Hullin’s 3D documentary Crazy Horse Paris – Fire by Louboutin, Marion Laine’s A Monkey On My Shoulder [trailer] starring Juliette Binoche and Édgar Ramírez (read the review, and Nuts (read more), Yann Coridian’s feature debut with Eric Elmosnino and Sophie Quinton that is now in post-production.
