CinEast prepares fifth edition
by Ernesto Leotta
21/09/2012 - Everything is ready for the CinEast 5th edition (October 11-28), one of the most unconventional film festivals in Europe, to be held in Luxembourg. CinEast presents a selection of films from central and eastern Europe, while seeking complementarities between cinema and other art forms, such as music and photography. It is also a forum for conviviality and exchange of ideas among the participants taking part in the numerous events.
This year's edition presents films from Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Croatia, Serbia and Slovenia, with titles such as Cristian Mungiu's Beyond the Hills [trailer, film focus], Wojtek Smarzowski's Rose [trailer], Zdenek Jirasky's Flower Buds, Benedek Fliegauf’s Just the Wind [trailer, film focus], Jan Cvitkovic’s Archeo, Tomislav Radic’s Kotlovina, Kristijonas Vildziunas's Back to Your Arms, Istvan Szabo's The Door, Anca Damian's Crulic – The Path to Beyond [trailer, film focus], Srdjan Dragojevic's The Parade [trailer] and Radu Jude's Everybody in our Family [trailer, film focus], among others.
2012 will also be the year of the ‘CinEast Pro’, the first workshop for film professionals with the aim to promote an exchange of ideas between Luxembourg and Eastern Europe.
And what also makes this edition special is the huge number of events on offer, from the 'Back to the Roots' exhibition to 'Welcome to…' nights, from the short film marathon to the gastronomic nights, the public will discover a different country each time and be able to watch and tasting its history and culture.
"Make sure you leave CinEast 2012 without missing any of its attractions - I know it sounds impossibile – but it is definitely worth it," said Artistic Director Hynek Dedecius.
