Creative Europe debates begin in European Parliament

The European Parliament's Culture Commission is today to examine MEP Silvia Costa's draft report for the future of the Creative Europe programme.

Even if she welcomes the Commission's will to build bridges between the culture and audiovisual sectors, she however estimates that one has to take into account each sector's particular nature and specificities.

"The proposed programme should be set up as a framework programme made up of two independent programmes (Culture and MEDIA), as well as a transsectorial part, with each programme having its own priorities, objectives, and specific evaluation criteria," she explains.

To help MEPs decide, the Parliament has made available a study conducted by KEA European Affairs that lists several recommendations, notably to facilitate the digital transition and access to funding, build new audiences, accompagny the digitisation of cultural heritage and favour data collection.
