- Warner Bros España is to distribute Pedro Almodóvar’s 19th feature, a film that marks his return to both comedy and spring releases

Production company El Deseo has confirmed that I'm So Excited (original title: Los amantes pasajeros, lit. “Passenger/fleeting lovers”), Pedro Almodóvar’s next film , is to be released in Spain on March 8, as usual distributed by Warner Bros España. With this production by his brother Agustín for the family production company, Spain’s most famous director worldwide has returned to comedy, the genre with which he made his debut at the beginning of the 1980s and that he had lately abandoned in favour of noir film.

With I'm So Excited, the director also returns to springtime releases. This release model, that includes a trip to Cannes in May before its distribution worldwide in autumn, was the norm until The Skin I live In [+see also:

, which was released in Spain in the autumn at the same time as in other territories (as it was claimed that piracy, rampant in Spain, could hurt the film’s release in other countries if it were months later.)

Almodóvar’s 19th film is currently in the editing phase after filming finished in the Ciudad Real airport on September 17. Filming lasted throughout the torrid summer from July 8 in areas of Madrid and the aforementioned city of La Mancha.

Not much is known about the film’s plot. But the film’s stellar cast is known, and we would have expected nothing less for such an “ensemble, moral, oral and unreal or unrealistic” film: Javier Cámara, Lola Dueñas, Cecilia Roth, Blanca Suárez, Miguel Ángel Silvestre, Raúl Arévalo, Carlos Areces, Antonio de la Torre, Hugo Silva, Willy Toledo, José Luis Torrijo, and Laya Mart.

American international sales agency FilmNation is handling Los amantes pasajeros’s international sales and, according to producer Agustín Almodóvar at the last edition of Madrid de Cine – Spanish Film Screenings, has sold the film’s rights for the whole world.
