09/01/2013 - Les Misérables and Life of Pi score nine nominations each

Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln has secured a mighty 10 nominations at the British Academy Film Awards including for Best Film, Adapted Screenplay, Original Music, Cinematography, Production Design, Costume Design, Make Up and Hair with Daniel Day-Lewis nominated for Leading Actor, Tommy Lee Jones for Supporting Actor and Sally Field for Supporting Actress. film profile] and Ang Lee’s Life of Pi are each nominated in nine categories while Sam Mendes’ Skyfall has eight nominations.

It’s a clean sweep for Europe in the Film Not In The English Language category with all five nominees being from the continent: Michael Haneke’s Amour, Morten Tyldum’s Headhunters [+see also:

Ben Roberts, Director of the British FiIm Institute Film Fund, said: "It's great to see a diverse range of British films nominated across so many categories at this year's BAFTAs. Coming just ahead of tomorrow's Oscar nominations, BAFTA is once again doing a fantastic job of spotlighting ambitious, large-scale British filmmaking just as the international awards season gets into full swing. The awards take place February 10 in London.
