Catherine Ann Berger (photo) has been elected Director of Swiss Films by the Foundation Council of the promotion agency for Swiss cinema. She will take over from Micha Schiwow from May 1st, 2013.
Catherine Ann Berger is currently working as an editor for German-speaking Swiss television. She is also an independent script consultant. A member of numerous committees of experts in Switzerland and abroad, including the screenplay department of the Austrian Cinema Institute and the script coaching pool of Focal, she has regularly chaired debates at cinema festivals in Switzerland.
Born in 1965, Catherine Ann Berger studied cinema and theatre at the University of Vienna. She hosted the programme "Kulturzeit" and has worked as film critic for Swiss television. After training as a script consultant, she worked for Catpics Coproductions and chaired the discussion panel at the Forum at the festival "Visions du Réel" in Nyon, in collaboration with the event's former director, Jean Perret.
