15/05/2013 - The actor, director and producer tries to shoot his new picture Buddy 'as green as possible'

After German box-office hits such as Der Schuh des Manitu and Wickie und die starken Männer, the German actor/director/producer  Michael 'Bully' Herbig is shooting his sixth feature film, Buddy. In this comedy an unexperienced guardian angel (Herbig) turns the life of his mentee (Alexander Fehling) upside down. Since the 'Buddy guard' is only visible to him, chaos cannot be prevented.

The principal photography for Buddy, which is shooting in Hamburg and Munich now, started at the beginning of March. Herbig, who is producing the picture with his company HerbX Film, is following the approach of 'sustainable' filmmaking. "Green screens excepted, we will do everything in our power to be as innovative as we can in order to make our production as green as possible," Herbig said. He has hired Nicola Knoch as sustainability expert on the film for the entire pre-production phase.  “Everyone should know the relevant issues for their department in order to make their own decisions during filming,” Knoch explained.

'Green producing' is also an issue that EFP will put on the agenda for the Producers on the Move in Cannes. This MEDIA- supported programme provides a platform to present projects to colleagues from other European countries and to exchange their experiences - 29 producers from 29 different European countries will take part in the event, from 18-21 May.
