28/05/2013 - The filmmaker from Marseille has again enlisted his loyal trio of actors, Ariane Ascaride, Gérard Meylan and Jean-Pierre Darroussin

Filming of Le fil d’Ariane, the 18th feature film by Robert Guédiguian, began on May 13th in Marseille. The cast includes the director's loyal and long-established trio of accomplices, Ariane Ascaride, Gérard Meylan and Jean-Pierre Darroussin. Robert Guédiguian has been selected twice for the competition in Berlin (in 2005 with The Walker of the Champ de Mars andin 2008 with Lady Jane [+see also:

Written by the director and Serge Valletti, the screenplay of his new opus sees Ariane lonelier than ever in her pretty home. It's her birthday and the candles have been lit on her cake. But the guests have called to say sorry... They can't make it. So Ariane gets into her lovely car and drives off…

Produced by the director himself for Agat Films, Le fil d’Ariane benefits from coproduction with Chaocorp, pre-purchases by Canal+ and Ciné+, backing from the PACA region and support from Sofica Cinémages, La Banque Postale Images and Indefilms. Filming will last eight weeks until the beginning of July, in Marseille and the surrounding area (especially in Fos and Martigues). It's worth noting that the film's original music will be composed by the French-Argentinian band, Gotan Project.

Distribution in French theatres will be handled by Diaphana with international sales headed by Films Distribution.
