La prochaine fois, je viserai le coeur: Guillaume Canet for Cédric Anger
by Fabien Lemercier
- Filming in November of a movie inspired by the case of the “Oise killer”, a criminal policeman in the 70’s. Ana Girardot is also in the cast
On November 25, according to our information, the filming will begin of Cédric Anger’s third feature: La prochaine fois, je viserai le coeur. Inspired by the case of the “Oise killer” (a policeman investigating his own crimes towards the end of the 70’s), the film will star popular actor Guillaume Canet (Best Actor Award in Rome in 2011 for A Better Life [+see also:
interview: Cédric Kahn
film profile], appreciated this year in Jappeloup [+see also:
interview: Lou de Laâge
film profile], in theatres on November 6 with En solitaire and next year in L'homme que l'on aimait trop by André Téchiné). He will be surrounded amongst others by rising star Ana Girardot (revealed in Lights Out [+see also:
film profile], appreciated in the TV series The Returned, which was met by huge success in France at the end of 2012 on Canal+ and in June in the UK on Channel 4, and to be seen in 2014 in Paradise Lost).
Written by the director, the screenplay delves into the years 1978-1979. For several months, the inhabitants of a quiet region find themselves living in panic and fear: a maniac is at work, targeting young women. He escapes the traps set by the investigators and the roadblocks because he is a young and shy policeman leading a mundane life within his brigade. A model policeman, he is put in charge of investigating his own crimes...
Previously a journalist for the Cahiers du Cinéma, Cédric Anger (read the interview) had then begun writing screenplays (including Selon Matthieu and Le Petit Lieutenant [+see also:
film profile] by Xavier Beauvois, but also the next film by Téchiné). He directed in 2008 his first feature Le Tueur [+see also:
film profile] which owed him to be chosen by Variety as one of 10 European directors to follow, before filming L'avocat [+see also:
film profile] in 2011.
Produced by Thomas Klotz and Anne Rapczyk for Sunrise Films, La prochaine fois, je viserai le coeur was pre-purchased by Canal+ and Ciné+. Backed notably by Pictanovo, the feature will be filmed in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region (especially in Lens and Arras). Mars Films will handle French distribution while international sales are still being negotiated.
