The Bergman prize jury, made up of Russian director Andrei Zviagintsev, French director Claire Simon and artistic director of the Bergman Week Jannike Åhlund, chose Via Castellana Bandiera because of its “superbly told story on human futility, where sensitivity for space and time have the same relevance.”

The film, winner in Venice of the Volpi Cup for Elena Cotta’s acting and the Pasinetti Award given out by SNGCI cinema reporters to Cotta as well as to Alba Rohrwacher, after amassing €400,000 in Italian movie theatres (distributed by the Luce Cinecittà Institute) is enjoying a successful international journey, with applauded screenings in recent months at the BFI in London, Pusan, Tokyo and Belgrade.

Produced by Vivo Film, Offside, Ventura Film, Slot Machine, with Rai Cinema, in association with Luce-Cinecittà, Via Castellana Bandiera is being sold across the world by French company Films Distribution.
