The 33rd edition of Brussels’ International Animation Film Festival – Anima unveiled its winners yesterday, 9 March. On the other hand, the jury prizes, which were mainly aimed at the short-films category, honoured works like German filmmaker Robert Löbel’s Wind and London-based filmmaker Nicolas Ménard’s Somewhere, in the student films category. Meanwhile, the Grand Prix Anima 2014 for Best Short Film, which allows the winner to be submitted for the Oscars, went to Japanese animator Yoriko Mizushiri’s Futon.

This year’s edition took 34,000 admissions, with cinemagoers coming from all over Belgium. Events such as American artist Bill Plympton’s masterclass and the Animated Night proved to be just some of the highlights that attracted a considerable audience. The next edition’s dates are already set: the festival will be held from 13-22 February 2015.
