Written by the director together with Bérénice André and Agnès Caffin, the story revolves around the character of 40-year-old Vital, who works as a workshop foreman in a textile factory. He is chosen as a “guinea pig” by 25-year-old Alix, who has come to carry out an ergonomic study at her father’s company, on condition of anonymity. The boss’s daughter quickly succumbs to the charms of this reserved and secretive worker, who opens up little by little as he spends more time with her and seems to be dreaming of a different life. One evening, they both make a break for it on a motorbike – and so begins a chaotic love affair in which the lovers’ different social standings attract them just as much as they tear them apart…

Produced by Julie Gayet and Nadia Turincev for Rouge International, La fille du patron is benefitting from co-productions by Rhône-Alpes Cinéma, Bethsabée Mucho and France 2 Cinéma. Having been pre-purchased by Canal+ and OCS, the film is also being backed by Sofica Palatine Etoile 12. The eight-week shoot in Roanne will wrap on 9 August, and the DoP is Crystel Fournier (who has been involved with all of Céline Sciamma’s films). Distribution in France and international sales will be handled by Wild Bunch.
