Terre battue (40-Love) at the Critics’ Week

France will be represented by Terre battue (40-Love) by Stéphane Demoustier (read the article) at the 29th Critics’ Week that will take place from 27 August to 6 September 2014 as part of the 71st Venice International Film Festival. Produced by Frédéric Jouve for Les Films Velvet, this first feature film which will be shown in competition brings together Belgian Olivier Gourmet, Italian-French Valeria Bruni Tedeschi and Charles Mérienne in the cast. The screenplay has been co-signed by the director with Gaëlle Macé and photography by Julien Poupard.
The movie has been co-produced by Belgian company Les Films du Fleuve (led by Luc and Jean-Pierre Dardenne), by Année Zéro, Arte France Cinéma and RTBF. Pre-purchased by Canal+ and Ciné+, it has also been supported by an advance on receipts from the CNC, the Ile-de-France region, Sofica Indéfilms, Emergence and Eurimages. The release in French cinemas will be managed by Diaphana on 17 December next; international sales will be managed by Films Distribution.
Also worth noting in competition at the Critics' Week in Venice is a French minority co-production (via Ciné Sud Promotion) with Vietnam, Norway and Germany: Flapping in the Middle of Nowhere by Nguyen Hoang Diep.
