Gael García Bernal will open the 20th Sarajevo Film Festival on the night of 15 August with Amores perros. The Mexican  actor, who, along with Agnès B. and Danis Tanović, will be one of three recipients of the Honorary Hearts of Sarajevo this year, will also meet the participants of Sarajevo Talents, an initiative organized in cooperation with the Berlinale; Oscar-winner Melissa Leo will also be attending.

On the opening night, Cristi Puiu, Vladimir Perišić, Aida Begić, Marc Recha, Angela Schanelec and Isild Le Besco will personally present the omnibus Bridges of Sarajevo [+see also:

Worth mentioning are this edition’s two honorees: Arsen Dedić, one of the best and most prolific songwriters in the region, and Michael Winterbottom, whose works will be the subject of a retrospective.

The Sarajevo festival will finish up on 23 August after showing 247 movies, divided among 19 sections and coming from 60 different countries.
