19/08/2014 - Works by Beatrice Gibson, Larissa Sansour, and Sarah Turner to be considered for £100,000 funding

Film London Artists’ Moving Image Network (FLAMIN), the commissioning scheme for London-based artist filmmakers, will fund and mentor up to six months Beatrice Gibson, Larissa Sansour, and Sarah Turner as part of the FLAMIN Productions Development Awards. Following development, each project will be reviewed and considered for the available £100,000 production funding. The selected projects, chosen from 92 submissions, are Gibson’s Crippled Symmetries, Sansour’s In the Future, They Ate From the Finest Porcelain and Turner’s Public House. 

Maggie Ellis, Head of Artists’ Moving Image at Film London said, “The selected projects will continue the rich tradition of experimental cinema in the UK, challenging established codes, pushing the boundaries of the medium and working without compromise.”

Supported by Arts Council England backing of £1 million, FLAMIN backs single screen work that is ambitious in premise and duration, with an emphasis on projects with strong potential to reach audiences via galleries, cinema, broadcast and/or digital platforms. Since FLAMIN Productions was launched in 2009, it has commissioned 19 films, including Elizabeth Price’s West Hinder, which was part of her Turner Prize winning exhibition in 2012; Ben Rivers’ feature length Two Years at Sea, which was released theatrically and acquired by Channel 4; and Sebastian Buerkner’s The Chimera of M that won the Tiger Award for Short Film at the International Film Festival Rotterdam 2014.
