Pinewood strikes deal with 20th Century Fox
- Pressure, Spooks part of distribution agreement
Pinewood Pictures has signed a deal with 20th Century Fox which will see films on its distribution slate, booked into cinemas by the studio. Pinewood Pictures funds and distributes film and television productions in the UK on behalf of the Isle of Man Media Fund and The Welsh Government’s Media Investment Budget and also offers direct equity investment from Pinewood itself.
The deal will feature Pressure, directed by Rob Scalpello, and Spooks: The Greater Good directed by Bharat Nalluri. Spooks: The Greater Good, which will release on May 8, 2015, tells the story of charismatic terrorist Adam Qasim. As he escapes from MI5 custody during a routine handover, the Head of Counter Terrorism, Sir Harry Pearce (Peter Firth) - is blamed. Disgraced and forced to resign, no one is surprised when Harry disappears one night off a bridge into the Thames.
Pressure is an underwater thriller that follows four deep-sea divers who become trapped in their saturation bell at the bottom of the ocean off the Kenyan coast. Based on an original story by researcher Louis Baxter, from which writers Alan McKenna and Paul Staheli created a script.
