The new MIA, the International Audiovisual Market, will be held for the first time in Rome from 16-20 October, during the Rome Film Fest (16-23 October).

Films, TV series, documentaries and video games: for the first time in Italy, a market will cover all the segments of the audiovisual industry, offering industry professionals and key figures the opportunity to attend screenings, debates, conferences, workshops and meetings for international co-productions.

"It will be aimed primarily at European professionals, but not exclusively," explains Andrea Occhipinti, president of ANICA distributors, to Cineuropa. "And there will be an international board of advisors: Guido Rud, Filmsharks Intl (Argentina); Michel Weber, The Match Factory (Germany); Francois Yon, Films Distribution (France); Susan Wendt, TrustNordisk (Denmark); Fred Tsui, MediaAsia Film (Hong Kong); Vicente Canales, Film Factory (Spain); Jakub Duszynski, Gutek (Poland); Ed Guiney, Element (Ireland); Stephen Woolley, Number 9 (the UK); and, for Italy, Paola Corvino, Intramovies; Raffaella Di Giulio, Fandango; and Catia Rossi, Rai Com.”

MIA’s programme features many activities related to the film industry, including The Business Street and New Cinema Network, a special focus dedicated to co-productions with Italy, and a Film Financing Forum to present Italian economic, financial and production opportunities to international professionals. Meanwhile, for the TV sector, there will be the first edition of TvDays, devoted to networking for TV series; and for documentaries, the event will incorporate the 11th edition of Italian Doc Screenings, an international showcase and focus for Italian documentaries produced by Doc/it, and the second edition of Doc&Factual Agorà, an international forum dedicated to doc and factual television programmes, as well as a panel discussion about the relationship between cinema and video games.
