Today filming started in Brussels on Joachim Lafosse’s new feature film, L'économie du couple [+see also:

film profile]. The film tells the story of the separation of Marie and Thierry, who break up after living together for ten years. She bought the apartment they live in with their children but he’s the one who completely renovated it. As Thierry can’t afford to find somewhere else to live, they are forced to remain living together. On the day of reckoning, each tries to hold on to what they think they contributed to their life together.

For the first time, Joachim Lafosse is taking on a project he didn’t start. Indeed, the screenplay was originally written by Mazarine Pingeot and Fanny Burdino, with contributions from Thomas Van Zuylen. 

The style of filming in a single space heralds the director’s return to universal yet very personal issues, after shooting Chevaliers Blancs [+see also:

Almost all filming will take place in the couple’s apartment in Brussels, between now and 10 July. L’Economie du Couple is being produced by brothers Jacques-Henri and Olivier Bronckart for Versus Production, which has been working with the Belgian director since Private Lessons [+see also:
