Director Laura Wandel

It is predominantly females who feature among the people behind the majority feature films accepted during the first 2015 session of the Film Selection Committee. Among the writing-aid recipients is young director Laura Wandel, whose short film Foreign Bodies was selected at Cannes in 2014. She is currently writing her feature debut, La Naissance des Arbres (lit. “The Birth of the Trees”). Another filmmaker receiving writing aid is Delphine Lehericey, for her Old Dreams. , she skips a couple of generations with Old Dreams, which follows the adventures of three 70-somethings who decide to escape from their retirement home and head off to rescue one of their friends. Lastly, Bénédicte Liénard and Mary Jimenez – whose next film, Le Chant des Hommes [+see also:

We also find two female screenwriters among the lucky ones who are receiving development aid. The first is Emmanuelle Pirotte, who is co-writing Today We Live with Sylvestre Sbille – the movie is a historical drama set at the end of the Second World War. Secondly, we have Caroline de Mulder, who is co-writing Bandonéon with Jean-Sébastien Lopez, Pedro Romero and Stéphane Vuillet – this title follows the day-to-day life of a group of tango dancers.

After her first movie, Get Born, which was produced as part of the Cinéastes Associés micro-budget film programme, Nicole Palo is back with Emma Peeters [+see also:

, the story of a young actress in trouble, who finally finds the role she has been waiting for her entire life… but which could lead to her death! The film is produced by YC Aligator Films, which is receiving production aid.

Lastly, it is worth pointing out that the committee also chose to support the production of the thriller Tueurs, the debut film by former gangster – now director – François Troukens, who has teamed up with DoP Jean-François Hensgens (Loving Without Reason [+see also:
