The prolific writer, screenwriter, playwright and director from Lausanne Antoine Jaccoud will be honoured with the prestigious Prize of Honour of the Solothurn Film Festival (21-28 January), which awards the strong personalities that passionately work away “behind the scenes” of Swiss cinema each year. It’s the first time that a screenwriter will receive the prize, which highlights just how important he is to Swiss film production.

Antoine Jaccoud is part of the crème de la crème of francophone screenwriters recognised internationally. His personal touch brings often-universal stories inhabited by psychologically rich and complex characters to life on the big screen. After the awards ceremony there will be a screening of Kings of the Road by Wim Wenders, which, as explained by Jaccoud, was the first film that gave him a “powerful and sensual artistic thrill” and encouraged him to write for film. Antoine Jaccoud was born in Lausanne in 1957. After studying sociology, he worked as a journalist (culture and film) for the magazine “L’Hebdo”. He then trained as a playwright with Polish director Krysztof Kieslowski and famous Czech pedagogue Frank Daniel. He currently writes for film and theatre, although his drive to create leads him to get involved with others projects too, such as the “Bern ist überall”, a group of actors and musicians. Antoine Jaccoud regularly works with Bettina Oberli, with whom he co-wrote and co-directed Drop The Kids Off, and other directors such as Bruno Deville (Chubby [+see also:
