DVD hits theatres
by Valentina Di Michele
20/06/2003 - The Scandinavian territory will set a new world record on 25 July when it becomes the first in the world to employ the DVD format for a theatrical film projection.
Svend B. Jensen’s distribution slate, Arthaus will release Play by John Sullivan onto 80 Norwegian screens. The distribution is facilitated by the fact that all Norwegian cinemas have, for several years now, been equipped with DVD players by courtesy of Capa Distribution for screening adverts.
Shot on DigiBeta last summer, Play follows eight graduates of the Norwegian Theatre Academy who decide to pass one last week together on an island near Oslo.
The film was produced by Tanya Bedendyck for Dinamo Story AS and Panzerfilm with a Euros500,000 budget (half of which was put up by the Nordic Film Fund).
