The CICAE set to celebrate the first European Art Cinema Day

The first European Art Cinema Day is set to take place on Sunday 9 October. The initiative was set in motion by the International Confederation of Art Cinemas (CICAE), an organisation that works tirelessly towards ensuring cultural diversity and the distribution of arthouse films in all countries.

On the day, 400 cinemas from all corners of the continent will celebrate the diversity of European filmmaking, screening arthouse films, children’s movies and cinematic classics. There will also be movie previews, receptions and exhibitions alongside the projections. The event is sponsored by Isabelle Huppert, Stephen Frears and Maren Ade, as well as several other French and German cultural ministers.

Artcinemaday.org is the website dedicated to the event, which has its own Facebook page, both of which list all participating cinemas.
