The first clapperboard will slam in Strasbourg today for Full Frontal, the feature debut by Camille Vidal-Naquet (who turned heads with his short films Backstage and Mauvaise tête), a realistic tale set in a very gritty milieu that the director wishes to shine a spotlight on in order to raise awareness of the issue of male prostitution. The cast includes Félix Maritaud (who will shortly be glimpsed at Cannes in BPM (Beats Per Minute) [+see also:

Written by the director, the story depicts the turbulent life journey of 20-year-old Léo, a young homosexual prostitute who leads a debauched life of turning tricks and taking drugs. He keeps a complicated romantic relationship going with Ahd, who is also a prostitute but is not gay. Their relationship will gradually fall apart in the course of their various encounters and visits from clients. Ahd will end up leaving to rebuild his life in Morocco with a rich older man, while Léo will slip ever further into decline. On his journey, he will come across various characters, all completely different from one another.

Produced by Emmanuel Giraud for Les Films de la CroisadeFull Frontal is being backed by the CNC’s advance on receipts, the Grand Est region and the Urban Community of Strasbourg, where the shoot will take place before wrapping on 26 May.
