, dates back to 2014. Now he is making a return to the big screen with Operation Golden Shell, an action-comedy bristling with mix-ups and subterfuge that he has been shooting over the last two months on sets in the beautiful city of San Sebastián (which every September organises its famous and long-running International Film Festival, an event that serves as the backdrop for the escapades we will see in the film) and Cancún (Mexico), and which is now beginning its editing and post-production process.

It stars Basque actor Karra Elejalde and Catalan thesp Jordi Mollá (who is increasingly securing more and more work in other countries around Europe), backed up by Unax Ugalde, Ramón Aguirre, Bárbara Mori, Mara Escalante and Bárbara Goenaga. According to Cuadri, Operation Golden Shell “is a frenetic comedy about con artists, with all of the ingredients you’d expect to find in this genre: despicable swines and naïve people, swindlers and their victims, trickery, betrayals, suspense, love... All set against the backdrop of the world of film.”

The plot, written by Patxo Tellería (Igelak [+see also:

), centres on Producciones Urumea SL, a film production company in the throes of bankruptcy, managed by unscrupulous entrepreneur Marcos Ruiz de Aldazábal (played by Elejalde). The company takes full advantage of the fact that the San Sebastián Film Festival is in full swing to con Pamela, an investor and millionaire, by using a lookalike of Ray Silvela (played by Mollá), a renowned US actor of Cuban heritage whom she admires unconditionally, and who is to receive an honorary award at the gathering.

Operation Golden Shell is a co-production between Abra Prod (Spain) and Spline Producciones (Mexico). Filmax and Barton Films are in charge of distributing the movie in Spain, while the international sales will be handled by Filmax International. The film, which has a budget of €3 million, is benefiting from the involvement of TVE and ETB.
