The filmmaker is changing register once again with this new effort, as he is trying his hand at a family film with an adaptation of the novel Sans famille by Hector Malot, which was published in 1878 and has already been adapted for the silver screen on numerous occasions (in 1913 by Georges Monca, in 1934 by Marc Allégret, in 1946 by Georgio Ferroni and in 1958 by André Michel) as well as for television (including through an animated series helmed by Japan’s Osamu Dezaki).
