The Greek Film Centre funds projects in partnership with the CNC

The Greek Film Centre funds projects in partnership with the CNC

During the most recent Cannes International Film Festival, the Greek Film Centre (GFC) renewed the convention with France’s Centre National du Cinéma (CNC) that aims to support Greek-French cinematic co-productions (Aide à la Coproduction d’Œuvres Cinématographiques Franco-Grecques – see the news).

Of the 17 submitted feature projects – 15 fictions and two documentaries – five have been selected to be supported by the mutual Greek-French fund that has a total budget of €600,000. €400,000 of this is coming from the French side and €200,000 from the Greek side.

) much-awaited new feature, the upcoming film (see the news) by Yiannis Economides (Stratos [+see also:

), Basile Doganis’ debut, which has just entered post-production (see the news) and which is also the sole film with a Greek production company as a minority partner, and Sarajevo CineLink winner Araceli Lemos (see the news), while Greek-American filmmaker Alethea Avramis is directing the only documentary.

Furthermore, the GFC has announced the selection of three international projects that have a Greek producer as a minority partner and which will receive financial support of €40,000 each:

Finally, the GFC has pre-approved 20 short films to receive financial support amounting to €345,000, two feature-length documentaries to be financed with a total of €90,000, and €25,000 to be divided between two fiction feature projects that are currently in development.
