Organised every year in conjunction with the Experimental Film Centre and the National Union of Italian Film Journalists, the Mario Verdone Award rewards a young Italian auteur (of a maximum of 40 years of age) who stood out particularly for his or her feature debut during the latest film season. “All of the young auteurs in competition have demonstrated immense talent as they directed their features,” stress the Verdone siblings. “We are pleased to see how, every year, Italian cinema witnesses the flourishing of auteurs of undeniable artistic value.
