Five films selected in Berlin

Jacob Thuesen’s first feature film Accused selected in competition at the upcoming Berlin Film Festival (February 10-20) will be leading the Danish contingent also represented this year by four children’s films.

42 year-old Thuesen who will try to win the Golden Bear in Berlin, is a graduate of the National Film School of Denmark (NFSD). Renowned editor notably on Lars von Trier’s The Kingdom and on Jørgen Leth’s documentary Haiti, Untitled, he also wrote and directed the award-wining feature length documentary Under New York (1996). His first feature film Accused based on a screenplay by Kim Fupz Aakeson, is produced by Thomas Heinesen for Nordisk Film. The psychological thriller tells the chilling story of Henrik (Troels Lyby), a likeable family man and swimming teacher whose world falls apart when he is arrested and charged with a serious crime. The film will be released in Denmark by Nordisk Film Distribution on January 28.

The four Danish films that will compete at the Kinderfilmfest are Little Big Mouse by animation master Jannik Hastrup(The Boy Who Wanted To Be a Bear), Maria Mac Dalland’s animation film Odin’s Eye, Morten Giese’s short feature film My Dad Is a Champ and Karla Nielsen’s graduation project from the NFSD The Shadow In Sara. Both Accused and Little Big Mouse are sold by Nordisk Film International Sales.
