by Danis Tanovic and by Vers le Sud by Laurent Cantet. But prognostications centre, too, on the presence in the parallel section of Carmen by Jean-Pierre Limosin, or perhaps of Tzameti by Gela Babluani.

Adapted from a novel by Joseph Conrad and interpreted by the duo Isabelle Huppert - Pascal Greggory, Gabrielle by Patrice Chéreau is a co-production bringing together Azor Films (90%), the director's French company, and from Italy Albachiara (10%). Supporetd by Eurimages, the region Ile-de-France and Arte France Cinéma, the film is sold internationally by Studio Canal.

A majority French co-production (67% Asap Films), L’Enfer by Danis Tanovic boasts a starry cast with Emmanuelle Béart, Karin Viard, Marie Gillain, Jacques Gamblin, Guillaume Canet, Carole Bouquet and Jean Rochefort. From an original idea by Krzysztof Kieslowski and Krzysztof Piesiewicz, the Oscar-winning director of No Man's Land benifited from an Italian co-production (11% Sintra Film), Belgium (10% Man's Film) and Japan (12%), aid from Eurimages, the region Ile-de-France, Canal+, France 2 Cinéma, TPS, Diaphanaand 01 Distribuzione.

i>Vers le Sud by Laurent Cantet (Ressources humaines, L’Emploi du temps) which also looks set for Mostra 2005 reunites Charlotte Rampling, Louise Portal and Karen Young. Filmed in the Dominican republic and Haiti under difficult meteorological and political conditions, this majority French production from Haut et Court (with Canadian aid) is sold internationally by Celluloïd Dreams. In the sales outfit's line-up are alsoCarmen, the new piece by the director of Novo, Jean-Pierre Limosin. Appreciated - it seems - by the Venice selectors, the film is interpreted by Natacha Régnier, James Thiérrée and Dominique Reymond and was produced by Arte France Cinéma and CAPA Drama. Finally, Tzameti the first feature from the Georgian director Gela Babluani could find a place in the Critics Week or the Author's Days, which would be a fine reward for this Films de la Strada production, sold internationally by MK2.
