Like last year’s edition, the festival presents a competitive section, mainly feature films and documentaries, whose awards aim at promoting the national theatrical distribution of the awarded films. One of the high points of the festival is the partnership with the European Film Academy. The institution created in 1989 and chaired by Wim Wenders attributes every year the European Academy Awards. This year, the ceremony will be held in Berlin in December but nominations will be announced in Seville during the Festival. Therefore the programme of the “Europa Europa” section will include films selected and nominated by the EFA. But the Festival goes further in its European institutional dimension since there will also take place a Eurimages section, a compilation of films supported by the Eurimages fund in last year.
