Two films by Dane Peter Fly on the bill

An original initiative by Films du Losange who release today in the cinemas two features by Danish filmmaker Per Fly: The Bench (Bænken) and Inheritance (Arven). These two films make up the first two parts of a trilogy dedicated to the three social classes in Denmark. The first follows the misadventures of a former cook now long-term unemployed while the second focuses on the fate of a man who is handed four generations worth of inheritance and must save the family from bankruptcy. A good opportunity for film-buffs to discover a director who has known great box-office success in his own country, even though the films will only be seen in France with a prudent number of prints, 5 in total. Produced by Zentropa Entertainment respectively in 2000 and 2003, the two films won various prizes at festivals, The Bench winning best film at the Bodil Awards in 2001 (attributed by the Danish critics) and Inheritance won the best screenplay prize in 2003 at San Sebastian, and the filmmaker was awarded a Robert (the highest distinction Danish cinema) as best director for all his films. The screenplay for the first part was written by Per Fly and Kim Leona, the duo Dorte Hoeg - Mogens Rukov then joined them in the writing of Inheritance.
