AWARDS Germany

Lola nominees announced

by

Despite criticism from the BVR (German Directors Federation), which is angry that the current list of nominees for the Lolas (German Film Awards) lists the names of the films’ production companies but not the directors, the Deutsche Filmakademie has nevertheless chosen films by auteurs that have already received international acclaim.

Das Leben der Anderen (Tough Enough), produced by Wiedemann & Berg), in which Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck deals with late, desperate efforts by the East-German Stasi to pry into private lives, notably those of artists, has been nominated in 11 categories, including Best Film, Best Direction and Best Screenplay.
