Moretti and Placido: A duel for the Davids

04/04/2006 - The Caiman [trailer, film focus] by Nanni Moretti and Michele Placido’s Crime Novel [trailer, film focus] will go head to head at the upcoming David di Donatello Awards, Italy’s top film honours. Moretti’s film has been nominated in 13 categories, Placido’s in 14, including the David Giovani (Young David Award). Both films are naturally in the running for the most coveted prize: Best Film.
The other films vying for the statuette, which will be handed out April 21 in Rome, are My Best Enemy (12 nominations), Notte prima degli esami (11 nominations) and La terra (six nominations).
