Climates announced winner

27/05/2006 - Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s Climates [trailer] (see article) won the Fipresci Award today, a prize given to the best film in official competition at the Cannes Film Festival. This achievement was shared with the film’s French co-producer, Pyramide, and Eurimages, who provided funding for the feature.
In the Un Certain Regard selection, the Fipresci Award went to Hamaca Paraguaya by Paz Encina, a Paraguayan film co-produced with Argentina, France (Slot Machine), the Netherlands (Fortuna Films) and Spain (Wanda Vision). Paris-based Scalpel is handling sales of the film.
The award for Best Feature in the parallel sections went to Bug by US producer William Friedkin.
