Tomorrow, Danish cinemagoers and guests of the fourth Copenhagen International Film Festival will be the first to discover The Boss of It All, Lars von Trier’s new comedy and first film to have its world premiere in Denmark.
Quite a coup for head of programming Jacob Neiiendam, who has put together a strong line-up of 100% European films, including ten recent titles competing for the top prize (Golden Swan): Mouth to Mouth (Sweden), Happy as One and The Lives of Other [+see also:

The winning films, competing in six different categories, will be chosen by a jury presided by Danish veteran actress Ghita Nørby, and which includes Dutch DoP Robby Müller (who will also hold a master-class), Polish-born director Pawel Pawlikowski, Italian-British actress Greta Scacchi and Hungarian director Kormél Mundruczó.

Serbian filmmaker Goran Paskaljevic will also be onhand for the European premiere of his film The Optimists [+see also:

film profile], and maestro Hungarian director István Szabó will be accompanied by his producer János Rózsa to discuss Relatives, his new film about a young and idealistic prosecutor who finds out the hard way how easily power corrupts.

Four “national days” will be dedicated to specific filmmaking countries, with seven French films screening on September 23,followed by five German films (September 24), three Swedish films (September 26) and two Turkish films (September 28). A Lifetime Achievement Award will also be presented to Danish filmmaker Henning Carlsen on September 30 during the closing night ceremony.

Fun, pleasure…and work will also be in Copenhagen’s smorgasbord with two days of screenings of 12 new Danish films on September 22 and 23, offered by Trust Film Sales, Nordisk Film International Sales and Angel Films.
